Live View for Families and Fans

Grandparents who couldn't make the trip, a parent stuck at work, the bus with the JV team on it: anyone you give the code to can follow your game live at lockerbook.app/watch. No app, no account, no sign-in, and no charge.

  1. Open the game → ••• → Live View Sharing.
  2. Turn on Live link for families. Lockerbook makes a code for this game, like HAWK-4821.
  3. Tap Share Link to text or email it, or read the code out. People open lockerbook.app/watch and type it in.

You can do this before the game. The page says the game hasn't started until you tap Start, then follows along. While the link is on, a Live link badge with the code shows under your scoreboard; tap it to get back to these settings.

What families see

The score, the clock, the period, and the scoring plays, with jersey numbers only:

Shown Never shown
Score, clock, period ("2nd Half", "Top 6", "Set 3") Any player's name, on either team
Goals, points and runs with the jersey number ("GOAL – #9") Substitutions, injuries and notes
Yellow and red cards with the jersey number Your roster, nicknames, positions or minutes

Names are removed on your phone, before anything is sent. It isn't a setting you could get wrong.

The page also celebrates each score ("GOAL!", "TOUCHDOWN!"), shows momentum ("Harbor Point on an 8–0 run") and a small chart of the score, and ends with a final card: score by period and every scoring play. Families can tap Share the score to make a scoreboard picture to text or post. It shows the teams and the score, never the code or a name. A Sound button adds a chime on each score. It's off until they turn it on.

Player of the Game

In Live View Sharing → Player of the Game, pick a player. Families see the pick by jersey number only ("Player of the Game #10") under the scoreboard, on the final card and on the shared picture. Choose None to take it down. Coming soon: invited families can vote on a shortlist you approve, with results only your team sees.

Updates go out every few seconds. Baseball, softball, volleyball and bowling have no game clock, so the page shows the inning, set or game instead.

Win chance and season notes

Turn on Show win chance and season notes to families in Live View Sharing. It's one switch for the whole team, and it's off until you turn it on. While a game is on, families see an estimate like "Harbor Point 78% to win" with a small line of how it moved. It's worked out on your phone from the score, the time left and this season's results. They also see up to three season notes, like "6–1 this season when leading at half". Team totals only, never a player. In the app, tap a note to see the games it came from. Wrestling, bowling and meets show notes but no win chance.

With the same switch on:

  • Turning points. When a single score moves the chance by 15 points or more, families see a gold dot on the line and the play listed with the change, like "GOAL – #10 · 38% → 71%". Up to three, during the game and at the final.
  • How it went. At the final, the final card shows the whole game's win-chance line with the turning points numbered, and Share the final puts that line on the picture. Your press release gets one sentence about the biggest turning point (the time, the jersey number and the score, never a percentage).
  • Before the game. In the 12 hours before the start, the page shows a countdown, your season record and last five results, earlier meetings with this opponent this season, your season notes and a pre-game chance (once you have five finished games, or have already played this opponent). Families can tap Share this game for a game-day picture with the teams, date, time, your record and the watch link. The location is never shown.

Game-day picture

In Live View Sharing, a game that hasn't started has Game day → Share matchup card: the same picture, made on your phone, to post or text. It shows the team names, the date and time, your record (when win chance and season notes are on) and the watch link (when the live link is on). Never a player.

Watch in the app

Anyone with Lockerbook can tap Watch a Game on the first screen and enter the code, or paste the link. They see the same scoreboard as the website, with no account needed.

Signal and iCloud

  • The live link needs a signal on the scoring device. Scoring never waits for it. If you lose signal, the badge says No signal — catching up later, and the page catches up when you're back.
  • The link uses your iCloud account to publish. If the badge says Sign in to iCloud to share, sign in under Settings → your name on the iPhone or iPad. Everything else works without it.

Stop sharing

Turn Live link for families off. The page stops showing the game within a few seconds. After the final, the result stays up for a week, then comes down on its own.

If a code ends up somewhere it shouldn't, tap New Code. The old code stops working and you can share the new one.

Invited viewers — coming soon

Families you invite in the app will be able to see player names too (unless you turn on Hide names from invited viewers, which starts on for club and youth teams). You can set this now and it will apply when it arrives.

Scoreboard overlay

The overlay is a TV-style score strip: both teams, the score, the period and clock, and the last play, by jersey number only.

  1. Open Live View Sharing and turn on Scoreboard overlay (under Broadcast).
  2. Families following your live link now see the score strip at the top of their scoreboard.
  3. If your school streams with OBS, vMix or Wirecast, the Overlay link shows under the toggle. Tap Copy or Share and send it to your broadcast crew. They add it as a Browser Source (1920×1080). The strip sits in the bottom-left corner over the video and updates as you score.

The overlay link needs Live link for families turned on. If the link is off, the screen says so. Turn the overlay off and the strip disappears from the page and the broadcast within a few seconds. Sports without a game clock show the period only; after the final it reads FINAL.

Preview

Preview as at the bottom of Live View Sharing shows exactly what each audience sees.
